Intel BX80571E6500 Review by Demakase

I compared benchmarks of intel processeros and this one came out in the top for speed/price ratio. It hasn't let me down at all.
Currently running with 8 gbs of ram at DDR3, 1gyg of video with Nvidia 430 GT in 64 bit- windows 7 . I use programs that involve numerical calculation and a bit of a strain on the processor, and i can leave them running on the back while i watch videos or do something else at the same time. Haven't tried overclocking it though.

Super stable at 300 Mhz FSB, and runs cool. Absolutely the best bang for your buck. Here's my setup: Gigabyte GA-ep43-UD3L mobo, 4 gigs Kingston HyperX 800 Mhz DDR2 RAM, Radeon 500 meg PCi-E video card, Suntech 680-watt PS, Intel 6500 CPU. I use it in a Multimedia system, and it runs all day at 300 Mhz FSB without ever hanging up. Couple it to a nice big HDTV LCD monitor, and a 5.1 or 7.1 channel sound system, and you might never come out of your man-cave. If you don't have money to burn, get this one and OC it!

I used this processor to upgrade an Acer PC I had previously rebuilt with a new motherboard, memory and hard disk. Initially, I re-used the old (2005) Celeron D 3.06GHz processor primarily because it was capable of Windows 7 64-bit operation but I realized after a few months of use that this old-style (256K L2 cache/533Mhz FSB) Celeron just wasn't going to do the job. I agree with the other reviewers; most users will be perfectly happy with this processor on a decent motherboard with 4Gb RAM and a 7200 RPM hard drive. It will certainly handle any office-type processing and certainly basic photo editing. I don't game so I can't speak to the performance in this area. I use my rebuilt PC mostly to VPN into my PC at work. One thing to note: LGA775 socket CPUs are starting to fade away so, if you want to upgrade or build a new basic machine based on this socket type, you'd be wise to go ahead and get it done.
